The WM520+ is Wider Matrix’s latest DIY jigsaw puzzle vending machine. A customer walks up, uploads a photo from their phone, pays, and three minutes later collects a printed paper puzzle with an optional frame. No staff, no checkout counter, no waiting on a print shop.
We make these machines in our own facility and sell them direct, which is why the price stays where it is and why you deal with the same team from first quote through after-sales support. The WM520+ is the current generation. The earlier WM520 is still available for operators who want a wooden puzzle machine on a tighter budget.
Three numbers matter most to most buyers, so here they are up front: it prints a full sheet in three minutes, it holds 208 puzzles and 140 frames before a restock, and a single unit costs US$5,500 at the 1 to 5 unit tier. Most operators in a busy location report payback inside one to three months.

The print quality is where the WM520+ earns its price over the first generation. The F1080 head runs six colors instead of four, and the machine auto-adjusts contrast, sharpness, and color balance on every uploaded photo before it prints. That matters more than the resolution figure on a spec sheet, because customers hand over family photos and vacation shots and they expect the finished puzzle to look right the first time. If you are weighing print heads across brands, we wrote a longer breakdown of what actually matters when you are buying for production or vending.
How the machine works
From the customer’s side, the whole thing takes under five minutes. Here is the flow they actually go through:
- They pick a puzzle type, frame style, and quantity on the 27-inch touchscreen.
- They upload a photo and edit it on screen. The Gen 2 machine auto-optimizes it before printing.
- They pay by Nayax card, banknotes, coins, or a supported country code.
- The machine prints and dispenses the puzzle, plus the frame, within three minutes.
Your job as the operator is mostly restocking paper and ink and collecting cash. The machine runs 24 hours a day on its own, which is the whole point. For a longer look at how the photo to puzzle flow plays out in a real location, we put together a separate guide on the photo to puzzle vending machine model.
Why operators buy it
The attraction is simple: you remove the employee. A photo puzzle kiosk that needs a staffed counter is a very different business from one that sits in a mall corridor and sells while you sleep. A few things make this machine practical rather than just novel.
The 208 puzzle and 140 frame capacity means you are not restocking every day. The anti-clogging UV ink head is built to sit idle without drying out and blocking, which is the failure mode that kills most unattended printers. And the SRRS cloud system lets you watch stock levels and machine status from your phone instead of driving to the site to find out the machine ran out of paper.
We also do not pretend the numbers are the same everywhere. In a high traffic spot the machine often pays for itself in one to three months. In a slow corner it will take longer, and the rent is usually the biggest line item. We would rather you know that before you buy than after.
WM520 vs WM520+ and what each costs
Both generations are in production. The WM520 is the budget option for operators who already have a wooden puzzle customer base. The WM520+ is the current model we recommend for new placements, because the paper puzzle stock is cheaper, the six-color print looks better, and the 27-inch screen closes more sales.

| Model | WM520 (Gen 1) | WM520+ (Gen 2) |
|---|---|---|
| Print head | XP600, 4-color CMYK | F1080, 6-color CMYK + LC + LM |
| Print medium | Wooden puzzles | Paper puzzles (German blue card) |
| Ink system | Pigment ink, US$100 per set | UV hard ink, US$160 per set |
| Resolution | 5760 x 1440 dpi | 1748 x 2480 dpi |
| Screen | Touchscreen | 27-inch touchscreen |
| Frame capacity | Not available | 140 pcs, 2 styles |
| AI image optimization | No | Yes |
| Predictive maintenance | No | Yes |
Pricing by unit tier:
| Quantity | WM520 (Gen 1) | WM520+ (Gen 2) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 5 units | US$5,550 | US$5,500 |
| 6 to 10 units | Tier pricing on request | Tier pricing on request |
| 11+ units | Tier pricing on request | Tier pricing on request |
The reference price for the WM520+ is US$6,000, and the 1 to 5 unit tier sits at US$5,500, so the newer machine is actually cheaper than the older one at the entry tier. That is not a typo. We moved the Gen 2 machine down once volume picked up. If you are trying to work out the full landed cost including shipping, duties, and consumables, our puzzle machine cost breakdown walks through the real numbers rather than the sticker price.

Consumables and ongoing costs
The machine is a one time purchase. What you keep buying is paper, frames, and ink, and these are where your margin is set. Prices below are what we charge for the consumables.
Paper puzzles (Gen 2, German blue card stock):
| Quantity | Price per piece |
|---|---|
| 1,000 to 4,999 | US$1.20 |
| 5,000 to 9,999 | US$1.10 |
| 10,000 to 20,000 | US$1.00 |
Larger bulk tiers are available, down to US$0.80 per piece at 8,000 pieces.
Photo frames (synthetic wood, both generations):
| Quantity | Price per frame |
|---|---|
| 1,000 to 4,999 | US$1.80 |
| 5,000 to 9,999 | US$1.60 |
| 10,000 to 20,000 | US$1.50 |
Bulk tiers drop to US$1.20 per frame at 8,000 pieces.
Ink is sold as a set. The Gen 1 pigment ink is US$100 for six 500 ml bottles. The Gen 2 UV hard ink is US$160 for the six-color cartridge set. At a typical sell price of US$9.90 to US$20 per puzzle, the paper and ink still leave you a healthy margin, and the rent is usually what decides whether the whole thing is worth it.
As a rough benchmark, our sample model assumes 10 puzzles a day at 300 per month. It lands at about US$31,200 in sales and roughly US$19,600 in total input over the first year, with the machine paid off around mid-August. Rent, not hardware, is the largest single cost at about 38% of that input figure.
Remote monitoring with SRRS
Every unit ships with the SRRS cloud system. From your phone you can see whether the machine is online, how much paper and ink is left, and whether it needs attention. The Gen 2 machine adds predictive maintenance, so it flags issues like a head drifting out of alignment before they become a print quality complaint from a customer. For an operator running several machines across different sites, this is the difference between a service route and a guessing game.
Where these machines earn
The machine does best where people have time, a phone, and a reason to want a keepsake. Shopping malls, theme parks, tourist attractions, zoos, aquariums, and airports all fit. So do campuses and family entertainment centers. The common thread is foot traffic with a few minutes to spare and a photo already on the customer’s phone.
One thing we tell every first time buyer: the machine makes the product, but the location makes the business. A puzzle machine in a dead corner of a quiet mall will not print its way out of a bad spot. Pick the location first, then drop the machine in.
Customizing the machine
You can change how the machine looks, not just what it prints. We offer machine skins in a wide range of designs, luminous characters, and multiple color schemes, and you can supply your own artwork for the wrap. The interface language, packaging, and vending software can all be customized too. Full OEM and ODM service covers the exterior, the UI, and the packaging, so a distributor can sell these under their own brand without the end customer ever seeing our name.
Why Wider Matrix
We build the machines in our own factory and sell them direct. You are not buying from a trading company that resells someone else’s hardware and disappears when the ink system acts up. When a customer’s machine goes down, they talk to the people who assembled it, not a middleman.

That matters more with a printer than with a snack vending machine, because a jigsaw puzzle machine has a moving print head and ink system that need to be supported by someone who understands them. We keep the after-sales side straightforward: remote support over SRRS, spare parts, and installation guidance for overseas buyers. For details on warranty terms and lead time, ask us for a quotation, since both depend on your region and order size.
If you are comparing suppliers rather than machines, our guide to choosing a puzzle vending machine manufacturer covers the questions we think you should be asking any factory, us included.
Get a quote
If you are ready to price this out for a specific location, send us three things: the country it will operate in, the number of units, and whether you want the WM520 or the WM520+. We will come back with exact unit pricing, tier discounts, consumable pricing, and a shipping estimate. No obligation, and we would rather answer your questions before you buy than after.
Note: Product specifications, pricing, and configurations are subject to change as we continuously improve our technology. Contact our sales team for the latest pricing, promotions, and a custom quote.

User Reviews
ok so honestly wasn't sure about dropping this much money on a vending machine but man am I glad I did. bought the WM520 for my wife's nail salon in Austin and the girls LOVE it. puzzles selling like crazy, we restock every Thursday and by Saturday its empty. setup was pretty easy took me maybe 30 min? the payment system works smooth, had one small issue with the card reader but WiderMatrix support got back to me same day and walked me thru it. would def recommend if u got foot traffic
I buy this machine for my game cafe in Manila. Shipping take long time almost 5 week to arrive here but when it come, packaging very good, no damage. Machine look very nice, customer like the puzzle selection. I make back money in 2 month already! Only thing I wish is the instruction have more English, my English not perfect but was hard to understand some part. Still very happy with purchase, thank you WiderMatrix!
Alright so the machine itself is solid and looks great in my lobby, no complaints there. Bought the WM520+ about 3 months ago. The thing is... the software interface is kinda clunky? like it works fine but navigating the admin panel is annoying lol. Also wish they included more puzzle variety in the starter pack, had to source my own after the first batch. That said, sales are decent, maybe $200-300 a week which is not bad for passive income. Build quality is legit, feels commercial grade. Shipping was fast too, like 8 days to Denver. Overall pretty good just wish the software was better
DUDE this machine is amazing. put it in my apartment building break room and people are actually buying puzzles?? was skeptical at first lol. super easy to set up, plug and play basically. 5 stars no question
so my husband and I run a small arcade in Portland and we been looking for something different to add, you know? saw the WiderMatrix puzzle vending machine and thought hmm why not. well let me tell you, BEST decision. The WM520 is sleek, fits right in next to our claw machines, and the kids and adults both go crazy for it. My mom even bought 3 puzzles from it last week haha. The team at WiderMatrix was super helpful during ordering, answered all my million questions, didn't rush me at all. Machine arrived in perfect condition, well packed. We've had it about 4 months now, zero issues, zero maintenance needed. PROFIT is good, better than two of our claw machines combined honestly. If you're on the fence, just do it. we're already planning to get a second one for our other location next year
