How the machine works

Consumables and ongoing costs

The machine is a one time purchase. What you keep buying is paper, frames, and ink, and these are where your margin is set. Prices below are what we charge for the consumables.

Ink is sold as a set. The Gen 1 pigment ink is US$100 for six 500 ml bottles. The Gen 2 UV hard ink is US$160 for the six-color cartridge set. At a typical sell price of US$9.90 to US$20 per puzzle, the paper and ink still leave you a healthy margin, and the rent is usually what decides whether the whole thing is worth it.

As a rough benchmark, our sample model assumes 10 puzzles a day at 300 per month. It lands at about US$31,200 in sales and roughly US$19,600 in total input over the first year, with the machine paid off around mid-August. Rent, not hardware, is the largest single cost at about 38% of that input figure.
