A phone case vending machine in a mall prints a shopper’s own photo onto a case in the time it takes them to walk past. There is no stock to pre-guess and no one standing behind a counter. The machine holds the blank cases, prints the design, takes the card or phone payment, and logs the sale to a dashboard.

That self-serve loop is why these units turn up in concourses, near cinema entrances, and in the hallway beside a phone repair shop. If you are weighing one for a mall, remember the machine is only half the decision. What the mall will approve, how much power you can draw, and what it charges for the floor matter just as much.
Why a mall fits this machine better than most
Phone case printing runs on the same impulse a mall is built to encourage. The shopper is already in the building to spend money, and a personalized case is a small add-on, not a planned trip. Someone who came in for sneakers will print a case with a favorite photo. A teenager who came in for clothes comes back when the next phone model ships. That repeat, device-driven buying is what separates this category from a snack machine, and it is the reason phone cases stay in demand all year.
There is a quieter reason malls work. The machine can run for days between visits. At over 1,000 cases of storage, one unit does not need a daily top-up the way an ice cream or pizza machine does. You stop in to add blanks and check ink when the dashboard says it is time.
How a customer uses it
The purchase is four steps. A customer scans a QR code, picks their phone model, uploads a photo, and pays. Payment covers coin, cash, credit card, NFC, and QR, so there is no gap for a mall shopper who only carries a phone. The case stock fits Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel, Xiaomi, Huawei, and OPPO, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 15, and iPhone 11.
The WM880, by the numbers
Wider Matrix sells this machine as the WM880. It measures 1340 x 990 x 2170 mm, weighs 380 kg, and runs on 410W at 110V to 220V. Most malls can supply that, though you still need a level floor and a confirmed circuit. The machine carries 2,000 ml of UV hard ink and 1,020 to 1,025 cases depending on the print head.

The print head is where the price splits. The F1080 version uses an Epson F1080-A1 head and costs US$4,999 for one to three units. The i1600 version uses an Epson i1600-U1, prints about three times faster, lasts about four times as long, and doubles the clarity, and it is US$5,999. The i3200 uses an Epson i3200-U1HD and upgrades losslessly from the i1600 for another US$680. An optional camera module that counts inventory by itself runs US$200. Wider Matrix keeps the full tier on its page on how much a phone case printing vending machine costs.
Two details matter more in a mall than the marketing copy. The print system uses visual recognition to position the design, so cases come out without white borders. And the machine runs a management app on PC and phone that tracks revenue by day, week, or month and watches printer status, alarms, and connectivity, so you can see a unit is still printing from home.
The running costs
The blank cases are the real recurring expense, and they are a TPU and PC composite. A standard case is US$1.30 at 1,000 pieces and US$1.10 at 8,000 pieces, with magnetic cases a dollar higher at each tier. Ink is US$100 a set for the standard four-color UV hard ink and US$160 for the six-color set the F1080 uses.

Those figures are why the profit margin on phone cases usually holds, but treat them as inputs, not a promise. Your actual return depends on the rent or revenue share the mall asks for, the foot traffic that really passes, and the price you set. A 20 percent revenue share moves the outcome more than any spec on the machine.
What the mall wants before it says yes
A mall phone case vending machine usually lives or dies on the approval, not the hardware. These are the points a leasing office or mall manager will raise, so settle them before you order.
- Footprint and power. Confirm the exact floor space and the available amperage. At 380 kg and 2170 mm tall, the WM880 needs a level spot a dolly can reach.
- Appearance. A plain cabinet next to a cosmetics kiosk usually gets rejected. Wider Matrix does OEM and ODM wraps so the unit can match the mall or carry your own brand.
- Revenue share or flat rent. Know which one the mall wants before you model the return.
- Approval timing. The leasing office often needs a week or more to sign off, so factor that into your launch date.
The supplier is the part you cannot see in the spec sheet
A machine that drops on a Saturday and waits a week for a part will erase the margin you planned. That is where the factory behind it matters.
Wider Matrix builds these units in its own factory in Guangzhou, China, and ships to more than 130 countries, with over 3,000 machines in the field. Each WM880 leaves with CE, RoHS, ISO, CCC, and PSE certifications, a one year warranty, and lifetime technical support on a 24 hour line. You also get an installation video, training, and remote support, which is what lets an operator run a machine from another city.
Because the company manufactures the unit directly, there is no middleman markup, and the OEM and ODM route means the machine can carry your branding rather than the factory’s. That control is usually the deciding factor for a mall that cares what sits in its concourse. If you are comparing plants, Wider Matrix has a guide on choosing the right phone case vending machine manufacturer that covers what separates a real factory from a trading company.
Where to start
Start small and specific. Pick one corner of one mall, confirm the power and lease terms, then match the print head to the traffic you expect. A busy concourse justifies the faster i1600 head, while a quieter wing can start on the F1080 and upgrade later, since the heads swap losslessly.
If you have a mall in mind, send Wider Matrix the details and the available footprint. That gets you a straight recommendation and a factory price, not a generic pitch.

Widermatrix has been so great to work with especially Taylor. Taylor sends pictures and testimonials and data to help the decision process. Once decided the process is smooth and Taylor sends updates with pictures and videos of YOUR phone case vending machine along the way. The claims are real, this automated phone case dispenser is half paid back on my initial invest just after 2 months!
I bought two phone case vending machines, and they have been in operation for over three months and are very stable. The smartphone accessory kiosks have excellent reliability and require minimal maintenance.
This is my first time running a phone case vending machine business and it looks great. The automatic mobile accessory dispenser attracts many customers in my shopping mall location.
We ordered 5 units for our chain of convenience stores across Japan. The build quality is impressive and the custom branding option is a huge plus. Each machine was delivered with our logo perfectly printed. ROI has been excellent so far.
Great machine overall! The printing quality is sharp and the touch screen is very responsive. Only minor issue was the initial WiFi setup took a bit of time, but the support team helped us through it quickly. Would recommend.
Running this machine at a university campus has been a game changer. Students love the instant phone case printing feature. The payment system accepts everything — cards, QR codes, even coins. Very flexible for different markets.
I was skeptical at first but the machine exceeded my expectations. The print speed is fast (about 40 seconds per case) and the quality is comparable to professional printing shops. Already planning to order 3 more units.
Perfect for event venues! We placed ours at a concert hall and it generates consistent revenue. The remote monitoring via the app is fantastic — I can check sales and inventory from my phone anywhere in the world.
Good machine with solid build quality. The steel frame feels durable and the tempered glass front looks premium. Shipping took about 3 weeks to Australia which was reasonable. Customer support is responsive and helpful.
We've been operating this machine for 6 months now at a tourist spot in Dubai. Zero downtime, consistent print quality, and the payment system handles multiple currencies seamlessly. Best investment we've made this year.
