A young woman stops, pulls out her phone, scans the QR code, uploads a picture of her dog, picks the iPhone 15 case, taps pay, and 45 seconds later a finished custom case drops into the pickup slot. The machine is the same on the outside. The print head is what changes, and the print head is what changes your print speed, your per-print ink cost, and how long the machine runs before it needs a head replacement. Pick based on volume, not brand loyalty.

WM880 F1080 (entry build)

This uses the Epson F1080 industrial head, which is a good fit if you’re starting out or running lower-traffic spots like a hotel lobby, a small mall kiosk, or a single airport gate. It supports the optional 1,020-case inventory expansion and the auto inventory identification upgrade (+$350 / ¥2,450). Ink comes in 6 colors. It’s a workhorse, and the F1080 head has been in our fleet since 2018 with very few field failures.

WM880 i1600u1 (standard build, what most buyers order)

This uses the Epson i1600-U1 head, which prints about 3x faster, lasts roughly 4x longer, and resolves at 2x the clarity of the F1080 in side-by-side tests. It comes with industrial-grade UV print heads as standard, 1,025-case storage by default, and supports the upgrade to a lossless borderless i3200 print head (+$680 / ¥5,000). If you’re placing the machine in a high-traffic mall, a tourist zone, or a transit hub, this is the one to order.

Both versions run on the same chassis, the same 27-inch touchscreen, the same AWS-backed cloud system, and the same payment stack. The head is the only thing that differs.

What the machine actually does, step by step

1. The customer scans the QR code on the front of the machine with their phone.
2. They pick their phone model from a menu that covers every iPhone from the 11 series through the 16 series, plus Samsung, Google, Huawei, and Xiaomi flagships.
3. They upload a photo from their camera roll, their social media, or take a fresh picture in the app. The machine’s AI design system auto-fits the image to the case shape and previews it on the screen.
4. They pay by tapping their phone, inserting a card, or feeding cash. The machine prints, UV-cures, and dispenses the case in roughly 45 to 60 seconds.

That is the entire flow. There is no app to download, no account to create, and no minimum order. A 70-year-old tourist who doesn’t speak the local language can usually figure it out from the on-screen icons alone.

Four failure modes and how the WM880 kills each one

I’ve been in this category since 2016. I’ve watched machines that looked great in the catalog die in the field because of four specific failure modes. The WM880 was designed to kill each one.

1. Print quality that holds up to inspection

The print platform uses visual recognition alignment, which means the printer knows exactly where the case is sitting before it lays down ink. There’s no drift, no white border on the edges, and no skewing even after 8 hours of continuous printing. We tested this against three competing machines in our Shenzhen lab in 2024. The WM880 had 0 misprints in 2,000 runs. The next-best competitor had 11.

2. Inventory tracking so you don’t send someone every other day

The auto inventory system reads which case models and how many of each are still in the machine, and pushes that count to your phone or laptop in real time. You get an alert when stock drops below your threshold, so you can stop making 3 AM truck runs because you ran out of iPhone 15 Pro cases on a Saturday night. We’ve had operators cut their restock trips from twice a week to twice a month just by knowing what the machine actually needs.

3. Remote management for when something goes wrong at 2 PM on a Saturday

The smart PC/phone OS lets you check revenue, order status, machine health, currency settings, and language settings from anywhere. If the machine throws an error code in a mall in Lima, I can see it in Guangzhou before the operator calls me. The dashboard covers inventory identification, revenue statements, order status, basic settings, promotion activities, machine status, currency, and language. English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian are built in. Other languages are available on request.

4. Support that picks up

Our after-sales team is staffed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, by humans, not bots. We have 50+ support engineers across our Guangzhou HQ and partner service centers. The phone case itself: what your customer walks away with

Two case types are stocked in the machine. Both are TPU+PC construction, which means a soft shock-absorbing inner layer with a hard outer shell. They fit iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 series, including Pro and Pro Max variants, and the same case structure works across Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Huawei, and Xiaomi models.

The lens area has 2 optional cover protection designs. One is a sliding cover. The other is a raised bumper ring. Customers pick the one they want at the upload step. The case structure was redesigned last year for easier snap-on installation and faster refilling at the warehouse, which means less fiddling and faster restock on your end.

What you actually pay per print

These are the numbers we run with every client. They’re not theoretical. They come from the P&L sheets our existing operators shared in 2025 and 2026.

Blank case (TPU+PC): around $1.50 to $2.50, depending on whether you go with the standard or magnetic version.
UV ink: around $0.30 per full-color print. A $120 ink set lasts roughly 400 prints.
Machine amortization: a $6,299 machine spread over 3 years at 60 prints a day, 300 days a year, comes out to about $0.12 per print.
Total cost per print: roughly $1.92 to $2.92.

Mall pricing for a custom case runs $12 to $18 in most markets. Some tourist-heavy spots in Tokyo and Dubai push $20 to $25. Even at the low end, that’s 70% to 80% gross margin before rent, electricity, and payment processing fees. After those, you’re looking at 60% to 70% net. That’s why this category works.

Custom branding for operators who want their own look

The machine is available in standard red, yellow, and blue skins, and we offer fully customized skin and luminous character design for operators who want their own brand on the front. Why the chassis is built the way it is

The WM880 measures 134 cm wide by 99 cm deep and stands 220 cm tall, which fits through a standard single doorway and into most elevator cabs. We’ve moved these machines into basements, onto rooftop terraces, and onto ferries. The frame is steel, the panels are ABS with UV-resistant coating, and the electronics bay is sealed against dust and humidity. The 27-inch capacitive touchscreen is rated for 100,000 hours of operation, which is roughly 11 years of 24/7 use. The power supply auto-detects 110 V or 220 V, so the same SKU works in a US outlet and a European outlet without rewiring.

Payment: every way your customer wants to pay

The machine ships with a multi-payment module that accepts coins, cash, credit cards, and NFC. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay all work through the NFC reader. In markets where card-not-present fraud is a concern, we can lock the machine to chip-and-PIN only. In cash-heavy markets, the bill acceptor handles $1, $5, $10, $20 and most local denominations. The display also plays video and poster advertising on idle, so you can run ads for nearby stores, for your own brand, or for the machine itself. Operators have told us the ad revenue alone covers the electricity cost of the machine.

Real places where the WM880 is running right now

I can’t name every operator, but I can tell you where the machines are pulling consistent volume. A mall in Suntec City, Singapore averaged 80 to 120 cases a day during the November to January tourist season. A kiosk in Osaka’s Namba district does around 40 to 60 a day, weighted toward the iPhone 15 Pro and the latest Samsung Galaxy. A ferry terminal in Stockholm is running 25 to 35 a day in the off-season and pushing 70 in summer. None of these are exceptional. They’re typical.
