Cotton Candy Vending Machine WM980 for Sale: 60-90-Second 24-Hour Unattended
1 / 6

A six-year-old drags her mother across the mall floor. She has spotted the purple vending machine glowing in the corridor. Sixty seconds later she is holding a rainbow-spiraled cloud of sugar the size of her head, and her mother has walked away with a credit card receipt and a photo of the smile. This is the WM980. We’ve been refining the cotton candy version since 2022, and the unit in this listing is the one operators in 64+ countries are running right now.
Everything below is current as of July 2026: full specifications, the four configuration options we sell, the consumables buyers get wrong, the six mechanical systems inside the machine, and how to place an order.

Which WM machine fits your operation
Wider Matrix builds five cotton candy vending models. Most buyers choose between three of them. The WM980 is the one most operators order. Here’s how the lineup breaks down.
| Model | Best for | Sugar config | Starting capacity (servings) |
|---|---|---|---|
| MG301 (compact) | Compact kiosks, low-ceiling spots | 4 × 2 kg tanks default | ~265 servings at 30 g |
| CT580 (older legacy) | Existing CT580 fleet expansion | 4 × 2 kg tanks default | ~265 servings at 30 g |
| WM980 (standard hot-seller) | Malls, FECs, tourist spots, transit hubs | 4 × 2 kg tanks default, upgrade to 4 × 3 kg for +$200 / ¥1,500 | ~265 servings default, ~400 with upgrade |
| WM980+ (upgraded) | Premium indoor locations, branded venues | 4 × 3 kg tanks default, plus LED accent lighting and improved metalwork | ~400 servings |
| WM668 (outdoor) | Open-air parks, beachfronts, outdoor plazas | 6 × 2 kg tanks default, high-brightness screen and raised roof for water drainage | ~400 servings |
The math on capacity assumes 30 g of sugar per serving. Real-world portions vary, so expect 20 to 30% fewer servings per fill in practice.
The consumables part nobody talks about (but everybody gets wrong)
Sugar and paper sticks are recurring costs that eat into your margin if you buy the wrong stuff. We’ve seen operators order bargain-bin sugar and paper online, then call us two weeks later with machines that spin but won’t hold a shape. The problem is always the consumables.
Sugar spec
The WM980 expects granulated sugar in the 1.2 to 1.7 mm range, free of powder. Powdered sugar coats the heater, gums up the shaping knife, and pushes the burner to thermal limits. The machine ships with six flavor profiles pre-loaded: milk, banana, strawberry, blueberry, apple, and grape. Refill bags are sold through Wider Matrix and shipped alongside machine orders so your stock arrives with the unit, not three weeks later.
Paper sticks
The standard stick is 10 mm in aperture and 300 mm in length, the exact dimensions the robotic arm was calibrated for. Sticks outside this spec slip out of the gripper and break the cycle. Default sticks come in mixed colors. Custom-printed sticks (your brand, your event, your mascot) take a minimum order of 100,000 units and run about 20 working days from artwork approval.
Why we bundle the consumables
Mismatched sugar voids the burner warranty. Mismatched sticks break the robotic arm gripper. Sourcing these from third parties also means your project stalls while you wait for a shipment, and rent on the empty machine keeps ticking. Wider Matrix ships machine orders with the right consumables as a default option. Most operators skip the headache and take the bundle.
The four steps a customer takes
- Touch the screen and pick from the 36 pattern options.
- Choose a payment method. Coin, cash, credit card, and NFC all work. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay ride on the NFC reader.
- Watch the machine spin. The robotic arm picks a fresh paper stick, dips it into the spinner head, and lifts the cotton candy out in roughly 60 seconds.
- Pick up the finished cotton candy from the pickup slot and walk away.
There is no app to download, no membership to create, and no minimum purchase. A tourist who doesn’t speak the local language can usually figure it out from the on-screen icons alone.
Six mechanical systems inside the WM980
1. Burner
The heating element runs an automatic cleaning and humidifying cycle between servings. That cycle extends the burner life well beyond what you’d get from a machine that runs dry between customers. In our test lab, the WM980 burner held rated output for over 3,000 cycles before the first efficiency drop.
2. Non-stick shaping knife
The knife is coated with a non-stick material that releases the cotton candy cleanly so the spinner can shape it into the 36 patterns without tearing. A worn or sticky knife is what makes most cotton candy come out lumpy. Ours holds clean release for the rated life of the part.
3. Robotic arm (4 degrees of freedom)
The arm picks the stick, dips it into the spinner, and lifts the finished candy out. Four degrees of freedom means it can position the stick at the right angle for any of the 36 patterns, including the spiral, the flower, the heart, the star, and the layered designs. The arm is rated for tens of thousands of cycles and replaces the manual operator function in a traditional cotton candy cart.
4. Upgraded wheels
The base runs on heavy-duty casters with a locking mechanism that holds the machine in place once you’ve rolled it into position. You can reposition the WM980 for cleaning, for a mall layout change, or for an event without dragging 300 kg of awkward steel across the floor.
5. Magnetic door lock
An electromagnetic lock keeps the production window closed during the spinning cycle. This prevents a customer (or a curious child) from opening the door mid-cycle and reaching into the spinner. The lock releases only when the cycle is complete and the arm has retracted, then automatically re-engages for the next cycle.
6. Advertising display screen
A second screen in the cabinet runs image or video ads on idle. Operators can load their own video through a USB stick in any language the machine supports. The screen also shows the pattern selection menu and the payment flow, so it doubles as both an ad surface and a control surface.
The software layer that runs the machine
Cloud control system
Every WM980 reports back to a cloud dashboard. You can see sugar levels, total cycles, revenue by day, error codes, and uptime from your phone or laptop. When the sugar runs low or the machine throws an error, you get a notification before it becomes a problem at the site.
Fully automatic operation
The whole cotton candy production cycle, from stick pickup to finished candy delivery, runs without a human in the loop. The customer does not need to touch the spinner or the sugar. They choose a pattern, pay, and wait for the pickup door to open. The machine runs 24 hours a day in unattended mode.
Multilingual setting
The interface runs in multiple languages out of the box. Operators in tourist-heavy locations can switch the menu language on the fly without a service visit. Built-in languages include English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, and Mandarin. Other languages are available on request.
Remote upgrade system
Pattern library updates, firmware improvements, and payment module updates push to the machine over the air. When a new cotton candy shape is added to the catalog, or when a payment provider rolls out a feature, the update arrives overnight without a technician visit.
The numbers buyers care about
One serving of cotton candy uses 28 to 30 g of sugar. The retail price in most malls runs $4 to $6 per serving. Tourist-heavy spots in Tokyo, Dubai, and major US amusement parks push $7 to $10. Even at the low end of $4 with the higher sugar usage of 30 g, the gross margin per serving sits at 80% or more before rent, electricity, and payment processing fees.
If the upgraded 4 × 3 kg sugar tank config is installed, the machine holds enough raw sugar for 400 servings at standard portions. That is roughly a full week of high-traffic operation before a refill visit.
About Wider Matrix and the support behind the machine
Wider Matrix (GZ) Technology Co., Ltd. has been building vending hardware for 5 years out of our 20,000-square-meter factory in Guangzhou, Guangdong. We’ve shipped 1,000+ cotton candy and other vending units to 64+ countries. The team holds CCC, CE, ISO 9001, RoHS, PSE, and KC certifications, plus 5+ independent R&D patents and 30+ industry awards. Our 50+ advanced production lines handle OEM and ODM orders for operators who want their own branding on the chassis and the boot screen.
Warranty that does not require shipping the unit back
The WM980 carries a one-year manufacturer warranty. If the machine develops a non-man-made defect within the warranty period, we send you a replacement part or a replacement unit directly. You do not need to ship the broken machine back, package it, or pay return freight. Our after-sales team handles the diagnostics over the cloud dashboard and dispatches the replacement from the nearest warehouse.
Logistics and overseas delivery
Wider Matrix operates overseas distribution centers in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Stocked machines ship out of those warehouses door-to-door, with most operator orders arriving within 15 days from warehouse to site. For larger fleets or destinations outside the warehouse network, we ship from our Guangzhou factory via FOB or CIF terms, with lead times quoted per order.
How to order
If you’ve read this far, you probably already know whether this fits your business. The path to a quote is straightforward.
- Pick your model: WM980 (standard), WM980+ (upgraded), WM668 (outdoor), or another model from our lineup.
- Decide on the sugar tank config: 4 × 2 kg (default) or 4 × 3 kg (upgrade).
- Add the consumable starter bundle. We strongly recommend it for your first order so you do not run out before finding a local source.
- Send us your delivery address and any branding requirements. We’ll send back a full quote with shipping and lead time within 24 hours.
You can start the order on our contact page, or message our sales team directly. If you’d rather talk through your site before you buy, book a 20-minute call with our solutions team. We’ll answer questions about your location, expected foot traffic, and which model is the right fit based on machines we’ve already deployed in similar spots.
The WM980 is in stock and shipping from our overseas warehouses. The question is which location you’re going to put yours in.
